Review of the 2015 Hyundai Sonata Eco

Living Up to Expectations?

The latest model of the Hyundai Sonata boasts of a 1.6 liter engine with four vales to the cylinder. While this appears to be a toned down version of the earlier 2.0 liter turbo model, it is differently designed because it is designed in a unique undersquare shape despite having the same all aluminum body and variable valve timing. This unique feature makes the 2015 Hyundai Sonata Eco perfectly suited for different types of terrain including some of the very uneven ones.

Speed and Power

In terms of power, the 2015 Hyundai Sonata Eco is not much to write home about. With a 1.6 liter engine, one can only get as much as 178 horsepower. However, the engineers have more than compensated for this weakness with the 196 lb-ft torque. What’s more, the new Hyundai Sonata Eco comes with a seven speed system, something that few if any of its contemporaries can boast of. Even the larger and more powerful predecessor of the Sonata does not offer more than six speed settings.

Fuel Efficiency and Performance

As far as performance and fuel efficiency is concerned, the 2015 Hyundai Sonata Eco lives up to its name and gives an impressive result. On the test track, the car is able to go from rest to 60 mph in only 6.7 seconds. Racing at 92 mph, the 2015 Hyundai Sonata Eco was able to clock 15.3 seconds to complete the quarter mile mark.
